Descrição
Ian Nepomniachtchi, the world number 4 chess player, won the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2021 a few days ago. He scored 8.5/14 points and won the tournament ahead of seven other candidates and earned the right to challenge the current World Chess Champion, Magnus Carlsen of Norway in a 12-game title match, to take place this November 2021 in Dubai. In our recent video lesson, the RCA guest coach GM Marian Petrov analyzes a fantastic chess game played between Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi at the 14th round of the Candidates. Although Nepomniachtchi had already won the tournament, winning his spot to face Magnus Carlsen for the World Chess Championship, he had to put a tough fight against Ding Liren, only to end up losing the battle. It was a sharp game with plenty of critical combinations. In the post-game press conference, Nepo explained that sometimes having too much knowledge can play against you.
